Vintage ballpoint signatures, "James Taylor" and "Carole King,” on the reverse of an unused pink 5.5 x 2.5 ticket for a James Taylor concert at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, England, on July 11, 1971; the ticket is also signed by Taylor’s manager, Peter Asher. In very good to fine condition, with overall creasing and a tape stain to the edge. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.
During the 1971 UK tour by James Taylor and Carole King, staged in the wake of King’s landmark album ‘Tapestry,’ Peter Asher played a central but behind-the-scenes role as Taylor’s manager, having first worked with him when Taylor was signed to Apple Records. He oversaw logistics, coordinating venues and promotion, and acting as a vital link between the artists, promoters, and record companies, drawing on his experience as both a producer and former member of Peter and Gordon. Asher also helped shape the presentation and cohesion of the shows, effectively bringing together two major artists whose careers he had significantly influenced and ensuring the tour’s smooth and successful execution.
