From July 22–27, 1963, The Beatles appeared in a six-night engagement at the Odeon Cinema in the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, performing two shows nightly on a variety bill headed by the Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers. The group stayed at the Royal Pier Hotel and, during their week in town, spent time with photographer Dezo Hoffmann, who captured a series of now-iconic images at nearby Brean Down, including celebrated photographs of the band wearing striped Edwardian bathing costumes.
