Member of the House of Habsburg (1503–1564) who ruled as Holy Roman Emperor from 1558 until his death, a reign characterized by conflict with the Ottoman Empire and wars of religion between Catholics and Protestants. Manuscript DS, signed "Ferdinand," one page, 14.5 x 12, no date. Untranslated document regarding the pardon of a convicted murderer. In very good condition, with scattered foxing and staining, and splitting to the intersecting folds, one of which passes through the start of the signature.
