Vintage glossy 10 x 8 photo of Paul McCartney crowning the Northwich Carnival Queen at the Northwich Carnival in Cheshire on July 6, 1963, with his fellow Beatles looking on, signed on the reverse in ballpoint, “John Lennon” and “Paul McCartney,” who brackets his signature and adds, “This signature was forged…signed Paul McCartney.” McCartney draws a line over to the referenced forged signature, which is accompanied by additional forged signatures of Ringo Starr and George Harrison. Taken on July 6, 1963, at the Northwich Carnival in Cheshire, this photograph captures the Beatles during the pivotal summer that transformed them from a successful British recording act into a national phenomenon. Their appearance drew the largest crowd in the carnival's history, and the crush of fans forced organizers to move the crowning of the Northwich Carnival Queen from the outdoor festivities to Memorial Hall, where Paul McCartney performed the coronation before the group's fifth appearance at the venue. The Beatles made just one further appearance at Memorial Hall, returning in September 1963.
