The 8 Metre sailing event at the 1908 Summer Olympics was contested at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, Ryde, from July 27–29, 1908, with five boats from three nations competing over three scheduled races. Great Britain’s Cobweb, helmed by Blair Cochrane with crewmen Charles Campbell, John Rhodes, Henry Sutton, and Arthur Wood, won the event with two first-place finishes; notably, those crewmen were awarded silver medals, while Cochrane received the gold as helmsman/owner. Sweden’s Vinga placed second, and Great Britain’s Sorais finished third.
