Official program for a “Tribute Luncheon” for actor Alec Guinness, 7 x 10.5, held at the Savoy Hotel in London, England, on February 19, 1959, organized jointly by the British Film Producers Association, the Federation of British Filmmakers, and the Film Industry Publicity Circle to celebrate Guinness’ recently conferred knighthood. The program is signed on the appealing front cover in fountain pen, “Good wishes, Alec Guinness.” The cover features a montage of approximately two dozen photographic portraits depicting Guinness in many of his most celebrated stage and screen roles. In fine condition.
Guinness had been knighted in the 1959 New Year Honours, in recognition of a remarkable career that had already produced acclaimed performances in Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, Kind Hearts and Coronets, The Lavender Hill Mob, The Man in the White Suit, and The Bridge on the River Kwai, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1958.
