Description

TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, House of Representatives letterhead, December 17, 1948. Letter to the Hon. L. E. King, in full: "I am glad to have your letter in the interest of Robert W. Hillin. As you know, I will not be in the Senate until after the first of the year, and I don't know just what sort of policy will be worked out in connection with these appointments. Senator Connally has had much more experience with such matters and is highly respected by the men who make the final decisions on appointments. As the new Senator from Texas, I naturally don't want to make any move that is not satisfactory to him. In view of what you say about him, I am sure Mr. Hillin is a capable and well-qualified man. When, and if, I am called upon for a recommendation on this appointment, I know your views will be very helpful to me." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
