TLS as president, one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, March 1, 1951. Letter to Attorney General J. Howard McGrath, in full: "George Allen told me that you have agreed to head the Committee in the state of Rhode Island to raise funds for an archives building to be erected near Grandview, Missouri. This new library for presidential and public papers should render an important service to historians and others studying the problems of our times. I just want you to know how much I appreciate your assistance." In very fine condition.

The Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum was ultimately the first presidential library created under the provisions of the 1955 Presidential Libraries Act. Truman Library Inc., with Truman himself contributing greatly to the fundraising effort.
