Description

ALS as vice president, signed “M. Van Buren,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.75 x 7.5, May 6, 1834. Hastily penned handwritten letter addressed to an unidentified governor: “You will recollect the care of young Dr. Kerr and the city, who resigned his [position] as assistant surgeon to be with his mother and sisters upon the death of his father. He is an amicable, capable and virtuous young man…If you can give him any suitable employment, I will be very much gratified.” In very good to fine condition, with separation to the hinge, repaired with small pieces of old tape.
