Description

Four-foot-tall educational model of the mighty Saturn V rocket

Impressive vintage educational and display model of the Saturn V launch vehicle, produced by the Graphic Engineering and Models Branch at NASA’s George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The finely detailed multi-material model stands approximately 48″ tall and depicts the Apollo-era Saturn V with accurately rendered first, second, and third stages, Instrument Unit section with visible lunar module, the Apollo spacecraft, the launch escape tower, and a detailed F-1 engine cluster at the base. The rocket is set on a square 8.25˝ x 8.25˝ wooden display base bearing an affixed plate and a small figurine. Includes its original, well-used storage case, which measures 26.5˝ x 9.5˝ x 13.5˝. In very good condition, with scattered surface wear, such as cracking and loss to paint, chips, and soiling; the small LM bears chips and wear; the launch escape tower may not be original to the model. In spite of its flaws, this large-scale educational Saturn V model remains an impressive representation of NASA’s legendary Apollo-era heavy-lift launch vehicle.
