Description

DS in Italian, signed “Mussolini,” one page, 9.75 x 14.5, Ministero della Guerra (Ministry of War) letterhead, Fascist Era “Anno VI” (1927-1928). Official Italian government document submitted to the king concerning Second Lieutenant Luigi Tassetti of the Territorial Militia Infantry Reserve, who had been convicted of fraud and sentenced to “two years, two months, and fifteen days” imprisonment, though the sentence remained under appeal. The document orders Tassetti’s precautionary suspension from military rank pending resolution of his legal and disciplinary status, concluding with a request for royal approval of the decree. Signed at the conclusion in bold fountain pen by Benito Mussolini as Minister of War. In fine condition, with torn binding holes along the left edge. The heading “Anno VI” dates the document to the sixth year of the Fascist era calendar, introduced after Mussolini’s March on Rome in 1922, placing it in 1927–1928. By this time, Mussolini had consolidated power as Fascist Italy’s ruler and was overseeing the administrative and military institutions of the Italian state.
