Description

Ink signature, "Oscar Wilde, October '82,” on an off-white 2.75 x 3 slip. Suede-matted with a portrait to an overall size of 10 x 7.5. In fine condition.

In October 1882, Oscar Wilde was wrapping up his lecture tour of the United States and Canada, which ran from January to November, speaking on topics like 'The Decorative Arts,' 'The House Beautiful,' and aesthetics in general. The success of the tour helped to establish his international reputation as a wit and cultural critic.
