ALS, one page, 5.25 x 7, Hotel Ritz, Paris letterhead, no date. Handwritten letter "To Whom It May Concern," in full: "By this letter I give authority and permission to N. W. Davis or Anne Bakewell Davis to drive and take charge of my car Lancia (Italia #UD4-6554) any where in Europe." Matted and framed with two images to an overall size of 13 x 11. In fine condition.

Nathan William 'Bill' Davis was wealthy American expatriate and close friend of Ernest Hemingway, who hosted Hemingway and his wife Mary at his estate, "La Consula," near Málaga, Spain, during the summer of 1959. Hemingway used this home as a base to write The Dangerous Summer, often working at a stand-up desk there.
