Description

John Richmond ‘Man’ black leather asymmetrical moto jacket worn by Gail Ann Dorsey on the front cover of her debut album, The Corporate World, released in the United States on Sire Records in 1989. The supple leather jacket, size medium, features a silver-tone zip-front closure, angled zip pockets, snap-tab shoulders, and striking tattoo-inspired sleeve artwork with skulls, serpents, roses, and banner motifs. Fully lined in gold-tone acetate, the jacket combines a sleek, fitted biker silhouette with the bold rock aesthetic associated with the Italian designer label. In fine condition. Accompanied by printed photographs of the album’s front and back covers, both signed by Dorsey and picturing her wearing the offered jacket.

Gail Ann Dorsey’s debut studio album, The Corporate World, was released by WEA in 1988 and by Sire Records in the United States in 1989. Produced by renowned bassist Nathan East, the album features guest appearances by Eric Clapton and Gang of Four guitarist Andy Gill. Blending elements of rock, pop, and R&B, the record introduced Dorsey’s distinctive songwriting and genre-crossing style that would later define her acclaimed career as both a solo artist and collaborator. It received a five-star review and was voted one of the Top 50 Albums of the Year by London's Q magazine.

John Richmond leather jackets are closely associated with the designer’s signature rock-inspired and biker-influenced aesthetic that has attracted an array of celebrity admirers since the label’s founding in 1987. Known for bold graphics, rebellious tailoring, and punk-inspired styling, Richmond’s designs have been worn by major music icons including Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Madonna, George Michael, Annie Lennox, Axl Rose, Bryan Adams, and Michael Jackson. George Michael notably wore Richmond’s celebrated “Destroy” jacket in the music video for his hit single ‘Faith,’ helping cement the designer’s reputation for fashion rooted in rock ’n’ roll culture.
