Description

DS, 21 pages, 8.5 x 14, 1970. A Minimum Basic Production Contract between Leonard Sillman and Noel Coward, the latter being a member of the Dramatists Guild of the Authors League of America, Inc., with both agreeing to produce to “a certain play or other literary property now entitled ‘Hay Fever.’” Signed at the conclusion in ballpoint by Coward, and countersigned by Sillman. In fine condition. Accompanied by a legal folder containing additional documents related to the production of Hey Fever.

Noel Coward’s comedy Hay Fever was written in 1924 and first performed in London the following year. The story, which became one of Coward’s most popular and enduring plays, follows the eccentric Bliss family, whose dramatic personalities and chaotic behavior create confusion and embarrassment for a group of weekend guests. This contract appears to relate to the 1970 Broadway revival of Hay Fever at the Helen Hayes Theatre in New York, nearly 45 years after its original debut.
