ALS signed "J. M. Flagg," featuring a wonderful original self-portrait sketch, one page, 8.5 x 11, December 1937. Handwritten letter to author Willis Birchman, writing in response to a recently received book, in part: "Thanks for your book. It was beautifully gotten up & the text was delightful. I showed my dad (in his 3rd childhood!) my page when I came to it because he was mentioned…Hope you'll have to print other editions. Happy New Year to you & yours." Accomplished in ink, graphite, and watercolor, the sketch shows Flagg seated, smoking a cigarette, and reading the book in question, “Facts and Faces,” with Flagg adding to the right, “Merry Xmas! 1937.” In fine condition.
