Description

German philologist, jurist, and mythologist (1785–1863) best remembered as the elder of the Brothers Grimm and the editor of Grimm's Fairy Tales. ANS in German, signed “Jac. Grimm,” one page, 5 x 3, no date. Handwritten note (translated): "Question for Mr. Librarian Pinder. Do you recall from Byzantine history a patriarch by the name of Jamaliel?" In very good to fine condition, with toning along the left side from an old mounting strip on the back.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
