Description

King of Aragon from 1479 until his death in 1516, who reigned jointly with Queen Isabella over a dynastically unified Spain (1452–1516); together they are known as the Catholic Monarchs, famed as sponsors of the voyage of Christopher Columbus. Manuscript DS in Spanish, signed “Yo El Rey [I the King],” one page, 12 x 8, October 25, 1512. Document appointing Don Pedro Laso de la Vega into his service and instructing the royal accountants to register his annual salary in the crown's account books. Signed at the conclusion in ink by King Ferdinand II of Aragon, and countersigned by his royal secretary Lope Conchillos y Quintana. Bound into a marbled paper folder and in fine condition.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
