Mark I fuzed prior to 20/5/15, which are now with 1st Corps. In case of ammunition in original boxes the date of fuzing is shown on the box, loose rounds have the month in which the shell was fuzed stencilled on the shell. In the latter case all shell fuzed prior to June 1915 should be reported." In very good to fine condition, with overall staining affecting appearance.
As Prince of Wales, the future Edward VIII served during World War I as an officer in the Grenadier Guards, joining the British Expeditionary Force in France in late 1914. Though kept from front-line combat by Lord Kitchener, who feared the consequences of his capture, Edward repeatedly sought proximity to the fighting and became a visible presence at headquarters and near the lines.
