Description

Queen of Castile from 1474 until her death in 1504, reigning over a dynastically unified Spain together with her husband, King Ferdinand II of Aragon; they are best remembered for establishing the Spanish Inquisition and for financing Christopher Columbus's 1492 voyage that led to the discovery of the New World . Manuscript DS in Spanish, signed “Yo la Reyna [I the Queen],” one page, 8.25 x 12, February 8, 1502. Document granting Beatriz Galindo, the Queen's maid, all property belonging to her deceased husband, Francisco de Madrid (one of the Queen's treasurers), with the exception of any documents associated with his duties. In fine condition, with a cancelation slit unobtrusively passing through the signature. Accompanied by a full translation.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
