Two 12˝ UK Apple Records single-sided vinyl test pressings for each side of Billy Preston's 1969 studio album That's the Way God Planned It (SAPCOR 9, 1969), with green-and-white Apple Corps Ltd. labels filled out in type. The test pressings sport very early matrix numbers of "SAPCOR 9-A-3" (Side 1) and "SAPCOR 9-B-3" (Side 2).
Shortly after working with the Beatles on the Get Back sessions, Apple Records extricated Preston from his existing contract with Capitol Records and began recording the album with Harrison as his producer. The sessions for the album took place at Olympic Sound Studios and Apple Records in early 1969. George Harrison asked Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Ginger Baker to participate, about which Preston later said: 'George said he'd invite some of his friends over to help out on my Apple debut, and I never dreamed he meant [Clapton, Richards and Baker].'
Even though the album was well received it suffered from a lack of major promotion and failed to make any commercial impact. Hence, it is very hard to find with this being the only known UK Apple test pressing in existence. The commercial release of the record, with its album sleeve, is included.
Condition: VG+ with great sound quality overall.
