"Mrs. Madison" writes to John Quincy Adams, asking "the favor of him to return to her the manuscripts he has been so good as to look over"

Third-person ALS, signed within the text, “Mrs. Madison,” one page, 4.75 x 7.25, July 14, 1838. Handwritten letter to John Quincy Adams, in full: "Mrs. Madison presents her best respects to her friend Mr. Adams and being about to leave Washington for some time, she asks the favor of him to return to her the manuscripts he has been so good as to look over." Addressed on the integral leaf by Madison to "Ex-president Adams," and docketed inside in John Quincy Adams's distinctive hand: "Madison—Mrs. D. P., 14 July 1838." In fine condition.
