Description

American politician from South Carolina (1749–1800) who was the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence. Handwritten endorsement signed “E. Rutledge, Dept. Atty.,” one page, 3.75 x 4, June 23, 1784. Rutledge’s note, clipped from a legal document, reads: “I confess Judgment for Twenty four pounds fifteen Shillings with Costs.” Mounted to a slightly larger sheet and in fine condition.
