Description

First owner and president of the Boston Red Sox (1872-1924), politician, and as District Attorney for Suffolk County, the lawyer who took down Charles Ponzi. DS, one page, 13.5 x 9.5, August 18, 1920. Stock certificate for 40 shares in The Fisher Body Ohio Company issued to Joseph C. Pelletier, who has endorsed the reverse in blue ink to transfer the shares. The front of the document is signed by Fred J. Fisher as company president. In fine condition. Fisher Body was an automobile coachbuilder founded by Frederick and Charles Fisher in Detroit in 1908. By 1916, it had become one of the world’s largest manufacturers, producing over 350,000 bodies annually for nearly 20 automakers, and in 1919, General Motors acquired a 60% stake under president William C. Durant.
