Accompanied by an official J. K. Rowling transmittal letter with a preprinted facsimile signature from the author, who writes: “Dear Kym, I would like to say a very large thank you for your wonderful contribution to the Harry Potter readings, which went a long way to providing some entertainment for children, families and carers, whilst confined at home during lockdown. Everyone here on the Harry Potter At Home team really appreciates you giving your time and effort, which made the recordings so special and memorable. The response has been incredible. I'm delighted to say the readings have been enjoyed over 30 million times worldwide and have inspired a whole new generation of readers! Please find enclosed a token of thanks from me for your participation and for the pleasure it has given. I hope you enjoyed it too!”

Created during the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020, J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter at Home initiative offered free online content for readers around the world. Beginning in May, its centerpiece chapter-reading series featured a rotating cast of celebrity narrators—including Daniel Radcliffe, Stephen Fry, David Beckham, Helena Bonham Carter, and Kenneth Branagh—reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone chapter by chapter. For the concluding chapter, however, the project departed from its celebrity format and selected just three fan families worldwide—from London, Brooklyn, and Belfast—to read 'The Man with Two Faces.' Addressed to Kym Gaffney, who participated alongside her husband Brian and their children, John and James, the book was presented in thanks for the Gaffney family's role in the series finale. The Gaffney family of Brooklyn was the only family from the United States selected to participate. Truly a rare collectible originating due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
