British general (1727–1759 who achieved immortal fame at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham outside Quebec City, securing Canada for the British Empire but dying of his wounds at the moment of victory, making him one of history's most celebrated martial heroes. Extremely rare manuscript DS, signed “Sir, You most obedient Servant, Jam: Wolfe,” one page, 9 x 3.5, June 27, 1752. Bill of exchange document, in part: "Eight days after sight pay to the order of Robert Finlay Thirty pounds sterling value received and place the sum to my account." The document carries several endorsements on the reverse. In fine condition, with a small chip to the bottom edge, affecting nothing. Accompanied by a 1944 letter of sale from John Heise Autographs and an engraving after Benjamin West's The Death of General Wolfe.
