Robespierre and the the Committee of Public Safety implement an act requiring all Frenchmen to serve in the armed forces

Fanatical idealist leader of the French Revolution (1758–1794) who was arrested and executed for the 'Reign of Terror.' Manuscript DS in French, signed “Robespierre,” one page both sides, 8 x 12.5, August 26, 1793. Document issued by the Committee of Public Safety, being a certified extract from the official registers of the instructions to Citizen Pagavel, representative of the people for the department of Lot-et-Garonne and neighboring areas, to implement the decree of 23 August 1793 requiring all Frenchmen to serve in the armed forces whenever required, and to report to the Committee on the ways in which he intends to carry out his task. Signed at the conclusion in ink by Maximilien Robespierre, Lazare Carnot, Jeanbon Saint-André, Claude Antoine, comte Prieur-Duvernois, and Pierre-Louis Prieur de la Marne. The red wax seal affixed at the upper left remains intact. In fine condition, with minor loss to the lower right corner tip.
