Scottish biographer, diarist, and lawyer (1740–1795) famed for his Life of Samuel Johnson. Rare ink signature, "James Boswell,” on an off-white 3.75 x 1 slip, affixed to a slightly larger page with an identification notation above. In fine condition, with light soiling, and three cancellation lines passing across the signature. Autographic material from Boswell is extremely scarce—this is the first example we have ever offered.
