Sir Sultan Muhammad Shah (1877–1957), known as Aga Khan III, was the 48th imam of the Nizari Ismaili branch of Shia Islam. He is considered one of the founding fathers of Pakistan, and also served as the first permanent president of the All-India Muslim League. TLS signed “Yr. devoted friend, Aga Khan,” one page, 7 x 9, personal Ismaili Imamate emblem letterhead, February 7, 1946. Addressed from Land's End, Malabar Hill, Bombay, a letter to the Maharaja and Maharani Saheba of Gondal, in full: “On the 10th. of March the Ismailis will celebrate the 60th. year of my accession to their Imamat, by holding my Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Bombay. I shall be highly honoured and delighted if Your Highness and Her Highness will be graciously pleased to grace the occasion by your presence. Not only myself, but the whole Ismaili population of the world will be most grateful, if Your Highnesses could accept this invitation.” In fine condition. Accompanied by an admission card for the “Takht-Nashini Celebrations of H. H. the Aga Khan” on March 11, 1958.
