Description

Hungarian-born Austrian founder of Zionism (1860–1904). TLS in German, signed “Herzl,” one page, 8.75 x 10, Bureau des Zionisten-Congresses letterhead, May 20, 1902. Letter on the subject of "Jewish Book and Art Publishers," in full (translated): "I would be extremely pleased to speak with Mr. Hickl before his departure for Germany, and I kindly request that he visit me at my apartment, XVIII. Haizingergasse 29, if possible tomorrow, Friday, or Saturday." In very good to fine condition, with light soiling and scattered small stains.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
