Description

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, September 11, 1928. Letter to Miss Agnes Wells, dean of Indiana University, in full: "I suppose by this time that Bruce Quisenberry has written and told you that I was planning to go into a show in New York this fall to help out Fred Stone. Now, I don't know of anything I could say that would add to what he has told you. Fred Stone is the best friend I have; he has helped me when I needed help; and now that he is in a 'hole' I want to help him.

I know you have done a lot of work on this thing, so I have asked Quisenberry to do anything possible to make it right with you. I am anxious to come there this year, and I hope it can be arranged for sometime in the winter or spring. Thank you very, very much for all your kindness and consideration, and I hope I may look forward to seeing you later on in the season." Affixed to a same-size sheet and in fine condition, with trimmed edges.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
