Description

Holy Roman Empress and Queen of Bohemia (1717–1780) who was the mother of Marie Antoinette. LS in German, signed “Maria Theresia,” one page, 9 x 14, February 20, 1758. Letter to Prince Ludwig, Landgrave of Hesse, in full (translated): "Most Serene and High-born Prince, Dear Uncle: I acknowledge myself particularly indebted to Your Grace for the kind wishes you so benevolently expressed to me at the recent turn of the year. As I am entirely convinced of the sincerity of your wishes, it gives me true pleasure to reciprocate them in full measure, assuring you that I shall at all times take a deep interest in everything that may bring joy to Your Grace throughout the coming years. I remain, with Imperial favor and every good wish, devoted to Your Grace." In very good to fine condition, with edge toning, and a small area of repaired paper loss to the left edge.
