Description

Political leader (1889-1964) who served as the first Prime Minister of India from 1947 until his death. TLS, one page, 7 x 9, Prime Minister's House letterhead, April 30, 1958. Letter to Ronald Duncan, in full: "I have your letter of the 26th April. I would be glad to meet you when you come to India, subject of course to my other engagements and where I am at the time. I do not know what type of documents and material you require. Most of these documents will not be with the Government of India, and you will probably have to get in touch with the Gandhi Memorial Fund people. I suppose there will be no objection to your seeing such documents as the Government might have." In fine condition.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
