Darwin,” on an off-white 4 x 2 sheet affixed to the front pastedown of a second edition of Darwin’s monumental book, On the Origin of Species by means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life, published by John Murray of London in 1860, hardcover with blocked green cloth and gilt designs and titling to the spine, 5.25 x 8, 502 pages with 30 additional pages containing “Mr. Murray’s General List of Works.” Autographic condition: fine, with a central vertical fold. Book condition: G-/None, with cracked hinges, cloth split at front joint, fraying to cloth at the foot of the spine, heavy rubbing to boards, and an ownership inscription to the half-title page.
