Signed book: For Whom the Bell Tolls. Later printing. NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1940. Hardcover bound in publisher's buff cloth, stamped in black and red (sans dust jacket), 6 x 8.5, 471 pages. Signed and inscribed on an opening page in black ink, "To Viola, Jr., of the Chatham, from his old bar customer, Ernest Hemingway." Autographic condition: fine. Book condition: G+/None, with dampstaining to boards and rubbing to the spine.
