Belgian painter and printmaker (1860-1949) who was an important influence on expressionism and surrealism. ALS in French, signed “J. Ensor,” one page, 8.25 x 10.75, January 21, 1927. Untranslated handwritten letter explaining that a painting referred to as "La gamme d'amour" was not executed as a decoration for his ballet of the same name, and that it was in fact painted in 1915 under the title "Le masque arraché." In fine condition, with torn file holes to the left edge. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from University Archives.
