Description

Historian and educator (1932–1918) who co-founded Cornell University and served as its first president. Two letters by Andrew Dickson White: an ALS signed "And. D. White," three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, President's Rooms, Cornell University, May 12, 1883, in small part: "The case of books came to hand day before yesterday. I am well pleased with both books and prices"; and a TLS signed "Andrew D. White," one page, 5 x 8, Embassy of the United States of America, Berlin letterhead, November 15, 1902, in part: "Accept my hearty thanks for the birthday congratulations which you have sent me, including the poetic part." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the second letter.
