World War II-dated TLS, one page, 6 x 8, Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Force, Office of the Supreme Commander letterhead, May 3, 1945. Letter to Edgar J. Rubie, in full: “Thank you for your letter and condolences on the death of the President. It was most kind of you to write and I am truly appreciative.” In very good to fine condition, with overall creasing. Written just weeks after the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt on April 12, 1945, and only days before Victory in Europe (V-E) Day on May 8, 1945, marking the end of the war in Europe.
