Description

Three dual-signed Queen business checks from the early 1980s, containing signatures of the entire band

Set of three 7.5 x 4 Coutts & Co. 'Queen Productions Ltd.' and ‘Raincloud Productions Ltd.’ business checks from 1980 and 1981, each filled out in another hand and signed in ballpoint or ink by two members of Queen, with John Deacon signing all three as “John R. Deacon.” The earliest check, November 19, 1980, payable to MCI Ltd., for £112.13, is co-signed by Freddie Mercury; the second, January 12, 1981, payable to American Express Company for £252.58, is co-signed by Brian May; and the third, July 2, 1981, payable to Edwin Shirley Trucking for £143.75, is co-signed by Roger Taylor. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.

Edwin Shirley (1948–2013) was a British rock concert tour organizer, film studio manager, and impresario who co-founded Edwin Shirley Trucking in 1974, which became one of the largest music transport companies in Europe. Edwin Shirley Trucking became indelibly associated with live music tours. Brian May of Queen noted Shirley's importance to their touring operation: ‘Edwin was at the head of Queen's vehicle convoy for so many years I can't begin to remember how many… He was a great pal of Gerry Stickells, our illustrious Tour Manager, and the two of them wrote the book on how to party on tour.’
