French painter (1883–1956) known as one of the few female Cubists. Original colored pencil and graphite sketch of a girl in a red dress with blue shawl accomplished by Marie Laurencin on an off-white 4.5 x 5.75 sheet, signed in the lower right in pencil by the artist, "Marie Laurencin." Affixed to an 8.75 x 11 mount. In fine condition. Accompanied by a limited edition lettered copy of 'Les Petites Filles,' published by Editions de la Nouvelle Revue Belgique; this example, lettered "Alfa B," is one of eight to contain an original drawing, which is published in the suite; housed in its original blue cardstock folder. Accompanied by a 1983 letter of expertise and appraisal from Librairie Giraud-Badin.
