Description

Distinguished Scottish surgeon (1728–1793) who was an early promoter of scientific methods in medicine. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 4.5, no date. Third-person handwritten letter, in full: "Mr. John Hunter's comp'ts and will meet Sharp on Friday next the 30th at one o'clock precisely." Affixed to a slightly larger card and in fine condition. "Sharp" may refer to the printmaker William Sharp, who was responsible for the dissemination of Joshua Reynolds's celebrated portrait of Hunter.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
