American civil engineer (1837-1926) best known for supervising the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge, which was initially designed by his father John A. Roebling. ALS signed “W. A. Roebling,” one page, 5 x 7, 191 West State Street letterhead, January 18, 1916. Humorous handwritten letter to "John," in part: "Here I am in the Hotel Vanderbilt laid up with an attack of indigestion. Have not had one for 2 years—a little bit of cheese laid me low. Castor oil helped a little—then I ate a baked potato & that knocked me out again. I don't know if I can get over it and want to get back to Trenton to die—it is so much trouble in a hotel." In fine condition.
From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
