Radioactivity results from Marie Curie's lab—a sought-after 1931 assay of radium

Polish-born French physicist (1867–1934), she and her husband Pierre discovered two new elements, polonium and radium, in 1898. In 1911 she won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. She died of leukemia brought about by her work with radioactive material. Partly-printed DS in French, signed “M. Curie,” one page, 8.5 x 12.25, July 20, 1931. Completed certificate (No. 6348) from Curie's laboratory at the Institut du Radium, documenting the testing of a sample containing 49.76 milligrams of radium. Signed at the conclusion in ink by Curie as director of the laboratory. In fine condition. Accompanied by an export certificate from the French Ministry of Culture.
