President Hayes authorizes and directs the Secretary of State to cause the Seal of the United States to be affixed to "an envelope containing my letter in reply to one from the King of Denmark announcing the birth of a Princess in the family of the Royal Prince, March 14th 1880." Neatly signed at the conclusion in ink by President Rutherford B. Hayes. In fine condition.
Princess Thyra of Denmark (1880–1945), the granddaughter of King Christian IX, was born to the future King Frederik VIII and Queen Louise of Denmark on March 14, 1880.
