Scarce ninth plate ambrotype of an Abraham Lincoln photograph reproduced from a rare folio lithograph by Boston publisher J. H. Bufford, which was based on Charles A. Barry’s from-life pastel done in Springfield in June 1860. The lithograph itself is very rare and seldom appears at auction; unlike the lithograph, this ambrotype depicts Lincoln facing left. The ambrotype is presented within the left-side of a period embossed case; the right-side half is missing. In fine condition, with some spots of discoloration to the bottom, and some wear to the case.
