Description

Iconic 1860 campaign pinback ambrotype of Republican presidential candidate Abraham Lincoln, with the image resembling Mathew Brady’s portrait of a beardless Lincoln taken in New York City on February 27, 1860, the day of his famous Cooper Union speech. The gilt brass button measures 2.25˝ x 2.75˝, approximately, with the reverse bearing a George Clark manufacturer’s label, which reads: “For President, Hon. Abraham Lincoln. Manufactured by Geo. Clark, Jr., & Co., Ambrotype Artists [Boston].” In very good to fine condition, with emulsion irregularity, including image loss to the right and left edges.
