Book condition: G+/None, with the tops of the first free end page and title page trimmed off, creasing to wrappers, and wear to spine.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original owner, actor Stephen MacKenna, who played John Lennon in the 1979 made-for-TV film Birth of the Beatles. He writes, in part: “In 1979 as an actor, I was offered the role of John Lennon in a film called Birth of the Beatles…I was contacted by Cindy Rebello, who said she worked for the Lennons in the 1970s and was still in touch with them…She said she had talked to Yoko about a possible meeting, as John had seen the film, [but] as John was working on a new album (Double Fantasy), it would be later in the year. I was naturally disappointed, but Cindy said I could have the sunglasses that John had given her, also the autographed book, plus three photos she had taken of John and Harry Nielson….Cindy [said] that she would try to arrange a meeting November/December that year. I lost touch with her, and sadly, the events of December put an end to my hopes.”
