Description

Attractive leather-bound visitor’s book from the “Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service," 9.25 x 7.25, signed inside on the same page in ink and fountain pen, “Elizabeth, 27th May 1949,” “Philip, 27th May 1949,” and “Charles, June 25th, 1986.” In fine condition. An interesting set of signatures from very different periods—on May 27, 1949, a 23-year-old Princess Elizabeth, with her husband, Philip Mountbatten, made her first trip to Northern Ireland in late May 1949. During this three-day trip, which lasted from May 25-27, they were both conferred with the Freedom of Belfast. They also visited the then Royal Ulster Agricultural Show in the Balmoral Showground — more commonly known now as the Balmoral Show. Nearly 40 years later, Prince Charles, at the age of 37, signed his name directly below those of his parents.
