Description

TLS signed “Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Doubleday letterhead, March 29, 1989. Letter to Pema Browne, kindly refusing work for publication, in full: “Thank you for sending the proposal, PROFILES: The Great Personalities of the World by Hamilton A. Stewart. Although it is an interesting idea, I am sorry to say that we do not feel enthusiastic enough about its prospects here at Doubleday and we have decided against making an offer for publication. I am returning the material to you herewith, thanks and best wishes for placing it successfully." In fine condition. After her husband's assassination, Jackie married Aristotle Onassis and went to work as a book editor, first at Viking Press and then at Doubleday Publishing House. She remained at Doubleday up until her cancer diagnosis, when she became too ill to continue working.

From the collection of Ron Hoskins, assassinologist.
