Vintage matte-finish 7.5 x 10.5 US Army Signal Corps photo of Pershing in uniform, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, “To Col. Frank C. Burnett, with cordial regards, John J. Pershing.” In fine condition, with reduced ink flow to the first name of the signature.
Colonel Frank C. Burnett, United States Army, was awarded the Army Distinguished Service Medal ‘for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Colonel Burnett commanded, with distinction, a battalion of the first American regiment to occupy trenches in France, and participated in the repulses of the first raid made by the enemy upon American troops. As Deputy Adjutant General, General Headquarters, American Expeditionary Forces, he has performed his manifold duties with ability and sound judgment.’
